If an employee elects to convert disability credits or sick leave for VRS service credit when applying for retirement online, how will I be notified of the steps to complete the process?

You will receive a secure message in myVRS Navigator when an employee using the online retirement application elects to convert sick leave pay-outs to VRS service credit or disability credits from the Virginia Sickness and Disability Program or the Virginia Local Disability Program. You also will see that the member selected one of these options during the online employer-certification process. When processing the request, use the Purchase of Service function.

In the event service credits are not processed in a timely manner, the VRS Service Retirement team will contact employers to offer further assistance.
