What type of training do you need? Your current experience level and position will guide what courses you should take. You may be new to your role or you may have been in your position for a few years. You may help your employees with benefits questions or you may deal solely with payroll topics. You may need to know a little bit about everything!

To help you find the training you need, the VRS Training Academy curriculum offers three series: Overview, Benefits, and Technical. See which series is the right fit for you:

Overview Series: Overview training is a great way for new employers to get started or for experienced employers to get a refresher on VRS topics. Virtual and e-learning courses provide a high-level introduction to VRS benefits and systems topics.

Technical Series: Get more in-depth details about systems topics and contain video demonstrations. Systems training is ideal for employers who need step-by-step instructions on how to perform myVRS Navigator processes and the context behind those steps.

Benefits Series: These courses offer a more in-depth look at various benefit topics, designed to give you the context and details you need to administer and counsel employees. This series undergoes a revamp this fall, including new takeaways and action items for employers.

Each learning series course focuses on principal points and takeaways to help employers process benefits and counsel employees on time-sensitive decisions impactful on their retirement benefits.

VRS training materials also have been updated to reflect 2021 legislative changes and new online retirement processes and functionality in myVRS.

Our online course guideincludes detailed course descriptions, recommended prerequisites and direct links to e-learning courses in the Commonwealth of Virginia Learning Center (COVLC).
